I'm often astounded to see the how grand and bizarre the clothing industry has turned into. For some reason it's difficult for me to comprehend people and their utter love for clothing. Don't get me wrong! I like a decent pair of pants as much anyone, but you will not catch me forking out hundreds of dollars for a pair of pants, or even for plus size coats, which can be costly. Forget that. Not that my taste has any effect on the fashion world what-so-ever. Oodles of young people are going to fashion design and merchandising schools to better learn the business. Hey, I can't say that I blame them. There's a great deal of money to be made there. I am fairly certain Tom Ford is hungry these days.

When I asked my teenage daughter what topic she wanted to pursue, she started rambling on about fashion design and merchandising. Hmm, big shock! There are a few choices out there. She could market bathing suits, jeans, evening wear, plus size coats, wedding attire, avant garde fashion...the possibilities are endless.
