A Television Program About Alcohol Addiction Symptoms Results In Dismal Thoughts About A Woman's Excessive And Hazardous Drinking

Sharon had been involved in abusive drinking behavior since her junior year in college. Now, four years later, she drank more than ever. One Sunday evening when she was feeling a bit run down, Sharon decided to stay home, relax, and watch TV. While looking for a program to watch that she would find interesting, she at once got involved in a special program about young adult and adolescent drinking problems.

The narrator articulated the difference between alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse and then discussed the topic of alcoholic symptoms and alcoholic behavior. When the narrator discussed an individual's symptoms of withdrawal and some of the more familiar alcoholism symptoms and signs that alcohol dependent individuals display, Sharon got quite troubled because it virtually seemed as if the narrator was talking directly to her.

After watching the television special, Sharon promised herself that she would call her physician the next business day and schedule an appointment to discuss her careless and excessive drinking.

When the following morning arrived, true to her word, Sharon called her physician and scheduled an appointment. While she was waiting for the day of her appointment to arrive, she went online and did a search for alcoholism symptoms. Especially noteworthy were the following symptoms or signs: serious work-related and relationship problems, making excuses to drink at almost every opportunity, increasing irritability, sleep problems, and sneaking a few extra drinks before social events.

Stated simply, due to the fact that Sharon exhibited all of these symptoms she went further in her Internet search and found several websites and blogs that discussed different alcohol dependency symptoms and warning signs. One of the symptoms that really caught her awareness was the following: "Do you typically drink after promising yourself that you won't?"

Another alcoholism sign that captured her interest was the following: "Have friends bothered you by condemning your hazardous and excessive drinking?" A third alcohol dependency symptom was the following: "Do you want a drink when you first get up in the morning?"

The final alcoholic warning symptom that made her feel slightly on edge about her irresponsible and excessive drinking was the following: "Has your energy shrunk since you started drinking on a more regular basis?" When Sharon read this sign she plainly recognized that drinking had become a critical difficulty in her life because of her diminished energy level and also because she quit pursuing her dreams and her passions.

After reflecting on all of these injurious alcohol dependency signs and symptoms, Sharon at first felt depressed. Then something electrifying transpired. She realized that she was going to see her health care provider about her irresponsible and excessive drinking and she also reflected on the fact that that she would talk about her alcohol dependency warning signs and symptoms.

Indeed, for the first time in more than a few months, Sharon truthfully felt a sense of optimism because she was addressing her irresponsible and excessive drinking and was at long last ready to make the required alterations so that she could reclaim the life that was slipping away.
