A Married Couple Becomes Distraught About Their Abusive And Irresponsible Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Manifest Any Alcoholism Signs



Angie and Lenny have been married for three years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they decided to have a family and so they by design fashioned an extraordinarily dynamic social life.

The basic issue, however, is that nearly everything they do to have fun includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the dinner engagements, happy hours, sporting events, family get-togethers, and parties with friends they patronize include drinking.

If they were casual drinkers this wouldn't be a big issue. Since they drink in a hazardous manner, nonetheless, they are starting to perceive some instantly recognizable alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.

For instance, just two days ago Lenny was arrested for his first DWI and has been showing up late for work due to alcohol-related health issues. Moreover, Lenny's last three performance reviews at work have been less than praiseworthy and he has started to forget what he says or does the times that he drinks. Finally, Lenny has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to display some disquiet about his drinking activities.

In a similar manner, Angie has been feeling dejected about things in her life and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more than any time in the past eleven months. Furthermore, Angie has been getting more than a few migraine headaches and experiencing dreadful hangovers after drinking. Lastly, Angie has been feeling considerably less energetic when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late every Monday, and she has been getting some less than constructive criticism from her family members, coworkers, friends, and relatives about her excessive and hazardous drinking.

One Monday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie flipped through the channels and found a captivating documentary about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about alcoholism signs in particular. This TV program was a real source of discovery to Lenny and Angie because some of the alcohol facts that were highlighted looked as if they were directly linked to some of the drinking difficulties Lenny and Angie had been experiencing.

With thoughts of the TV program still etched in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcohol dependency signs they have been exhibiting could be a warning that they are dependent on alcohol or possibly becoming addicted to alcohol. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he suggested that they make an appointment with one of the doctors at the local alcohol rehabilitation facility to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking difficulties.

Ironically, even though their drinking behavior hadn't yet changed, it was clear to see that Angie and Lenny were at least facing their drinking issues, they were excited about finding out more about their drinking behavior, and they were interested in learning how they could substantially reduce or get rid of the alcohol-related problems that had begun to intensify.

When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they came to a decision that the next morning, Lenny would call and make an appointment for both of them at the drug and alcohol abuse rehab center located just South of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to triumph over the alcohol-related problems that had emerged in their lives, they actually had the most energizing night's sleep they could think of in the last five weeks.
